01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Ladlefuls of thin, broth-like curry soaking into fluffy grains of Thai jasmine rice have drawn office workers in Marunouchi for decades. Situated on basement level 1 of the Kishimoto Building, SANGRIA is celebrated for its distinctive Thai curries, which rein in heavy coconut sweetness to focus on spice vibrancy and clean ingredient flavor.

The lunchtime roster is broad. Diners can select tender chicken curry, a seafood preparation rich with shrimp, squid, and shellfish juices, or the vegetable-forward house special Sangria curry. For sensitive palates, milder preparations are available upon request; conversely, chili enthusiasts can opt for the full sting of fresh green chilis. The kitchen also turns out contrasting spice styles such as the dark, bitter, razor-sharp Kashmir curry loaded with chicken, potatoes, and eggplant, as well as an Indian-style preparation.

Midday sets include a crisp salad and plain yogurt, which help tame the lingering pepper heat. Adding a cup of tom yum goong provides a zesty sour-spicy accent that complements the spiced curries nicely.

Casual Wine, Western Plates, and Pizzas After Dark

As dusk sets in, the room shifts into an easygoing bistro atmosphere where Western-style small plates join the signature curries on dinner tables. regulars frequently call for the spinach simmered in cream or oven-baked whelk snails, alongside blistered pizzas and pasta dishes accompanied by beer, wine, or cocktails.

Decorated in understated crimson and dark wood accents, the layout provides both counter stools and dining tables, functioning comfortably for a quick solo lunch or an evening meal with colleagues. Takeaway bento boxes are also available, making it straightforward to enjoy the house curries back at an office desk or at home.
